CoverKing Car Cover Material Information
Custom Car Cover Materials Coverking designs car cover materials in-house and contracts production of the fabric to the world's leading textile mills. Coverking refuses to use "off the shelf" fabrics - such materials rarely meet the unique and demanding needs of a car cover material. Following are detailed pictures, information and ratings of Coverking Custom Car Cover fabrics. Coverking Custom Car Cover Fabrics are developed under strict quality standards. Material Properties Legend Coverking has a wide selection of materials, each selected to meet a particular cover need and budget. Below are the 6 criteria used for Custom Car Cover Materials, and an explanation of each. | | Water Resistanc e is a relative grade of how much water will penetrate the fabric. A "5" signifies the most water resistant material. WATERPROOF materials will not breathe, trapping moisture. All Coverking materials are water resistant, not waterproof. | | The Sun's UV Rays damage a vehicle's interior, finish, and also the car cover material. Materials with a "5" rating are most likely not to degrade under extreme sun conditions. | | Breathability describes how much moisture vapor trapped under the vehicle can escape through the cover. If a material is not breathable, it will trap moisture and cause rust. A "5" signifies the most breathable material. | | Natural and Man-Made Hazards, such as bird droppings, tree droppings and industrial fall out are very acidic, and can eat through a car's finish. A score of "5" identifies the material most resistant to these dangerous chemicals. | | Compactness measures how easily the material is to pack, and how small the final packed cover is. A score of "5" identifies the most compact cover. This is an important attribute if you will use your cover often. | | All Coverking materials are designed not to scratch a vehicle's finish (assuming the vehicle is clean when the cover is installed. However, some materials are softer than others. A "5" rating is the softest. | | Using this material to make covers the way some companies do, chopped up into small pieces to save a few dollars would be a crime. Coverking uses the exclusive Coverking Fewest Seams design, many times limiting the pattern to only three seams. All stitching is done using the blind stitch, hiding all thread. | | | Stretch Satin™
| Satin Stretch is an indoor Custom Car Cover fabric. It will fade if exposed to extended sun, and is not water resistant. Satin Stretch is the SOFTEST fabric available, and has Lycra yarns to hug every contour of a vehicle. Blind stitching results in invisible seams - this is a SEXY car cover! Coverking's Stretch Satin Custom Car Covers are made for vehicles parked indoors, and for owners who want nothing but the best for their vehicle. There is no alternative, available from any supplier, for this cover. The material has Lycra fibers for stretch in both directions, mirroring every perfect contour of your vehicle. And the inner liner is the softest fleece we've been able to find - specially designed not to rub off on convertible tops. It is available in solid color designs, including Black, Steel Gray, Pearl White, Burgundy Red, Dark Blue, Fly Yellow, Tan, and Forest Green. | | Triguard™ | | |
| A 3 layer Custom Car Cover material suited for light weather conditions (perfect for occasional use or vehicles stored under a carport). Triguard is fairly soft and very compact. Do not use Triguard in harsh weather or sun. Triguard is also not suited in areas with industrial fall out (acid rain). For those who want the Coverking Custom Fit, but don't need protection from heavy weather, Triguard Custom Car Covers are a great choice. Triguard is a lightweight, three layer material which protects from dirt, dust, light water, bird droppings and other mild hazards. It is perfect for use in a garage or under a carport. Triguard is also treated with UV inhibitors, which helps it stand up to ultra-violet rays emitted by the sun. Although Triguard contains these UV inhibitors, it is not recommended for very sunny climates - Silverguard™ or Stormproof™ would be better options. Triguard covers are gray in color, and offered with licensed GM logos. Triguard™ is a thin and lightweight fabric. The lightness makes it very easy to handle, but offers little protection from dings and scratches. If your vehicle is exposed to dings and scratches from pets, children or a crowded garage, we recommend Coverbond4. | Coverbond 4™ | 4 layers make Coverbond 4 a very thick and bulky Custom Car Cover. It is not suggested for daily users, or for people with large SUVs. However, the extra bulk helps to guard against minor nicks and dings, and even helps in light hail. Coverbond 4 is suggested for moderate weather or indoor use. | | Mosom™ | | | Mosom™ is a three layer material. The outer layers are Spunbond Polyropylene, and the middle layer is a special micro-porus film. The middle film layer is an excellent rain barrier, while allowing for vapors to pass through. It is a great choice for all-round car cover use, suggested for most conditions except extreme sun, snow or ice - in which case we suggest Stormproof™. Mosom is a non-woven material, so in the unlikely event a rip occurs in the material, it will not run. Mosom™ car covers are very breathable, almost as breathable as Stormproof™. If your vehicle is exposed to rain for long durations, Mosom™ or Stormproof™ are both excellent choices. If protection from light nicks, scratches and light hail is required, Coverbond 4 is the best choice. Mosom™ is soft to the touch and won't scratch a vehicle finish (assuming the vehicle is clean when the cover is applied). Mosom™ is available in gray color There are other materials on the market which have the same basic construction - a micro-porus film layer laminated to two layers of Spunbond Polypropylen. Coverking developed Mosom™ in-house specifically for use as a car cover material, and has added the highest levels of U.V. inhibitors - which prevent degredation in sunny climates. Coverking tests all it's materials, including Mosom™, to be compatible with automotive paints and clear coats. Because Coverking is TS16949 and QS-9000 certified, all materials used for Custom Car Covers are tested and OEM approved. | | Silverguard™ | | | Similar in properties to Mosom, but with more sun resistance and slightly less breathability. Silverguard™ is a 300 denier polyester material with a reflective and water resistant coating. It is a great choice for all-round car cover use, suggested for most conditions except extreme rain, snow or ice - in which case we suggest Stormproof™. 300 denier is a strong, heavy weve which will not rip or tear easily. The silver coating on Silverguard™ d oes an excellent job of reflecting sunlight, while keeping rain and animal droppings from damaging the vehicle finish. Silverguard™ car covers are breathable, although not as breathable as Mosom™ or Stormproof™. If your vehicle is exposed to rain for long durations, Mosom™ or Stormproof™ are better car cover options. If protection from light nicks, scratches and light hail is required, Coverbond 4 is the best choice. Silverguard™ is soft to the touch and won't scratch a vehicle finish (assuming the vehicle is clean when the cover is applied). Silverguard is available in silver color, and offered with optional embroidery and officially licensed GM logos. Beware of materials which claim to be similar, but are only half the weight - 150 denier material is not suitable for car cover use. Coverking tests all it's materials, including Silverguard™, to be compatible with automotive paints and clear coats. Because Coverking is TS16949 and QS-9000 certified, all materials used for Custom Car Covers are tested and OEM approved.
| | Stormshield | | | | Made by Guilford Mills, Stormshield is a unique polyester knitted Custom Car Cover fabric with a "peach fizz" lining. The lining adds extra softness and thickness. Stormshield is perfect for virtually all weather conditions. Stormshield is available in black, gray, blue, red, yellow and tan. In addition, two tone combinations are available with black sides and a color center. | | Stormproof™ | | |
| Coverking was overwhelmed after receiving test results of our latest design - Stormproof. The culmination of over a decade of material engineering, it has only recently been possible to manufacture the microscopic yarns which go into this advanced micro-fiber Custom Car Cover material. Only one textile mill in the world was able to meet Coverking's specifications - and although challenged by Coverking's design, the results are truly a triumph for car cover users! Stormproof is UNCOATED and UNTREATED this means that even after months or years of use, it will have the same properties! Stormproof feels more like an expensive golf jacket, yet is tested to be the MOST WATER RESISTANT and (because there are no coatings) the MOST BREATHABLE. You can't go wrong with Stormproof - available in gray, black, red, wine, and two tone combinations with black sides. The culmination of over 15 years of development, Stormproof™ material is designed by Coverking and made by one of the world's leading textile mills. It is the most waterproof yet breathable car cover material available. Stormproof™ car cover material exhibits outstanding sun and U.V. resistance, able to last for years in Arizona sun without fading. The micro-fiber base material is soft to the touch and won't scratch a car's paint - yet is rolls up into a very compact package for easy storage. Stormproof™ is available in colors. Stormproof™ is unique in the field of Custom Car Cover materials in that it is Untreated, Uncoated, and Unprocessed. Through Coverking's advanced textile engineering, Stormproof™ accomplishes the needs of a premium Car Cover material without the coatings which can easily wear off, the treatments which fade over time, and the processing which can be undone the first time it is exposed to water. Speak to somebody who has owned other "premium" Car Cover materials and you'll hear how the other Car Cover fabrics work as advertised for the first few months, but then degrade in their water resistance - the problem is that the treatments and coatings can wear off, scratch off, or simply wash off. Stormproof™ is immune to this, because it is inherently water resistant. It has no coating, so it is very breathable. And the fibers have been designed to reflect UV rays, and be immune to the color fading caused by the harsh sun. Stormproof™ is the only Car Cover material we can suggest for any climate or car cover need - it excels in every area except protection from dings and hail (in which case we recommend Coverbond4). Stormproof™ will last for years, and compliment your vehicle with the exciting colors and two tone designs it is offered in. | Find Your Custom Car Cover: |
